How to Use Oregano Oil Safely
*and some super necessary tools to help
you use more of it!
Oregano essential oil is one of the most potent and powerful essential oils that you have in your stash. Because it is so potent, I often find out that people are underutilizing it in their health care regimen as they are unsure how to use it safely! So I want to give you some very practical guidance on how to safely and effectively use Oregano, as well as recommend some handy tools that will make your life easier when it comes to handling a hot oil.
First off, there are many reasons why you would use Oregano... It provides POWERFUL antioxidant support (see how I put that in all caps? That’s how much it packs a punch!) so that makes it incredibly supportive for a healthy immune system. It supports healthy respiratory function. Oregano essential oil can also be used as a powerful cleansing and purifying agent. Annnnd it also supports healthy digestion.
Daaaaannnng right?! That’s quite the laundry list of reasons why you want to get Oregano more involved in your life on a day to day basis... but how?! If you’re familiar with Oregano EO at all, you’ve probably heard or experienced that it’s a pretty darn hot oil. Meaning if you put it straight on your skin or in your mouth that it will feel uncomfortable! Most people can get away with using Oregano straight on the bottoms of their feet because the skin is much more calloused there, however, there are many more ways that you can use Oregano topically and internally. Let’s talk about a few of my go-to’s and then I’ll give you a link list of the tools you’ll need.
How to take Oregano internally:
Put two to three drops of Oregano in a doTERRA Veggie Capsule to help maintain a healthy immune system.
Add one drop of Oregano essential oil in place of one tablespoon ground oregano to a favorite Italian dish
In a pinch, you can mix Oregano in a tsp of coconut or other pure veggie oil and swallow.
How to use Oregano topically:
Add 10-15 drops of Oregano to a 10ml roller bottle and top with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil. Apply several times a day to the spine, bottoms of feet, and chest.
Add a few drops of Oregano to doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil as part of a soothing massage.
How to use Oregano aromatically:
To soften or balance the scent of Oregano, blend several drops with: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Cinnamon, Clove, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Ginger, Lavender, Lemon, Rosemary, and Thyme. No! Not all of these at once haha!! Choose 2-3 others to diffuse with Oregano based on your desired outcome. I personally enjoy a combination of Oregano, Lemon and Eucalyptus in my kitchen diffuser.
Now here are a few “tools” that I referred to in the suggestions above. Thankfully you can get them all with your dōTERRA wholesale account so simply add them to your next Loyalty Rewards Order to ship directly to your door. If you don’t have your own wholesale account yet and aren’t working with any other Wellness Advocate then you can snag your own account below.
