Spring Cleaning with doTERRA Essential Oils - Part 1

Spring has sprung, and we all know what that means…it’s time for Spring cleaning! If you’ve been wanting to ditch the toxic cleaning products but aren’t sure how to start, these DIY recipes are a great start.

First up, we’re starting with dusting all the wood furniture. That’s right, your hutch is going to be so sparkly, it’ll make grandma proud! This wood polish is easy peasy. Gather your supplies and let’s go!

Wood Polish

Ingredients:
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup vinegar
10 drops doTERRA essential oils - I recommend Wild Orange, Arborvitae, or Lemon

Directions:

1. Add olive oil and vinegar to glass spray bottle (these are my go-to glass bottles)

2. Add 10 drops of essential oil of your choice.

3. Shake well before each use.

4. Apply to microfiber cloth and wipe wood surfaces clean. Repeat every two to three months or as often as needed.

Now that your wood is clean, it’s time to move onto the kitchen. Ever forget about leftovers or the meat that you were thawing to use and then open your fridge to be greeted with the most unpleasant smells? Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. A fridge clean out is a great practice during the annual Spring clean out. These little fridge refreshers are the perfect addition to your fridge and they’re SO simple, with just 3 ingredients!

Fridge Refreshers

Ingredients:
2 ½ cups baking soda
½–1 cup water
15 drops Purify or Lemon essential oil
Silicone molds (any shape works - click here for some fun shape ideas)

1. Combine baking soda, ½ cup water, and essential oils into bowl.

2. Stir together. *Note: If needed, add more water until thick paste forms. The mixture should resemble damp sand.

3. Divide mixture equally into silicone mold.

4. Allow it to rest for two to three days or until mixture hardens.

5. Once hard, place in refrigerator to help eliminate unpleasant odors. Store additional fridge refreshers in an airtight container until ready to use. One disk will last up to a month in your fridge.

Next, we’re making an all purpose spray, perfect for anything - kitchen counters, tubs, toilets, sinks..you name it. You’ll fall in love with how your house smells after using this!

All-Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients:
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup water
1 tsp Borax
15 drops Lemon essential oil
15 drops Peppermint essential oil
15 drops Eucalyptus essential oil

Directions:
1.
In a 16 oz. glass bottle, combine all ingredients.

2. Spray and wipe with a cloth for all your household cleaning needs!

*for granite or natural stone countertops substitute rubbing alcohol for the vinegar

Happy cleaning and happy Spring!!

5 Ways to Get More Use Out of Your Cheer + Motivate Rollers

5 Ways to use your cheer +MoTivate rollers.png

doTERRA’s Emotional Aromatherapy line was formulated to provide support emotionally, the reason why you use them is essentially written on the bottle.  Have a cranky toddler? Use Cheer on you both! Feeling lethargic and lacking the drive to get things done? Use MOTIVATE. Obviously.

If you’re new to using essential oils, this may be a new concept to you- using essential oils to affect or change your current state of emotions or mood. The term Aromatherapy means that essential oils can be used aromatically, and those aromas will elicit powerful responses within the body- mental, emotional, and physiological. So yes, when you’re having a less than stellar day and tempted to get down about it you can swipe some of doTERRRA’s Cheer blend right on your wrists and inhale deeply.  If getting your brain and body to wake up early in the morning to get that workout in is tough, then put that roller of Motivate on your bedside table and swipe some on and inhale as soon as that first alarm sounds! It’s just that easy to give yourself the emotional support you need to conquer your day.

Now when you look at the individual oils that make up each of these blends, you’ll start to truly understand how you can better utilize them outside of emotional support!  Check out this list of single oils that go into each of these blends:

Cheer:
Wild Orange
Clove
Star Anise
Lemon Myrtle
Nutmeg
Vanilla
Ginger
Cinnamon
Zdravetz

Motivate:
Peppermint
Clementine
Coriander
Basil
Melissa
Rosemary
Yuzu
Vanilla

Are any of those familiar to you?  Apply some critical thinking skills here and think about which oils you’ve used for to support other health challenges… also take note of how cool it is that some of these oils are very expensive oils when purchased as a single, and some are not even available to purchase at all!!

Ok so without further ado, here are five ways (for each!) to get more use out of your Cheer + Motivate Touch Rollers.

Cheer - Uplifting Blend

  1. Healthy Cells and Immune Support- Would it surprise you if I told you that Cheer is wonderfully supportive for cellular health? Apply to the bottoms of feet 2x daily.  Great for kids and adults alike.

  2. Healthy joints- Clove and Ginger are both really warming oils that support healthy circulation so you can apply directly to ankles, wrists, knees, and even your neck!

  3. Healthy digestion- Anise and Ginger are both star players in doTERRA’s blend Digestzen, that is specifically formulated for digestive support and BOTH of those oils are at play here again in Cheer! So in a moment of need, don’t be scared to roll Cheer right around the belly button in clockwise direction to support healthy digestive processes.  ;)

  4. Healthy Blood Sugar and Cholesterol Levels- Cinnamon essential oil is a fantastic oil to combine with a healthy diet to support keeping those blood sugars in balance. Make it a habit to apply Cheer to bottoms of the feet, back of the neck, or the chest several times every day.

  5. Happy all month long- Ladies, this last one is for you! There comes a time every month when we are *slightly* more irritable, a little less patient with those we love, and chocolate becomes our best friend. The next time you feel tempted to lock yourself in the closet with a box of chocolates, grab your bottle of Cheer on the way in and rub some on pulse points, under nose and across your forehead… take a few deep breaths and then you can decide if you really need that chocolate after all.  :)

Motivate - Encouraging Blend

  1. Digestive Support- Peppermint and Coriander are both miracle workers when it comes to supporting healthy digestion. Yep, I said miracle.  Because if you or a loved one deal with food sensitivities then you know how important it is to not only be vigilant about what you eat, but also have a supportive oil on hand for when contamination happens. Apply over abdomen, on pulse points, or on the bottoms of feet.

  2. Enhance Endurance- when you feel like you’ve got nothing left to give, whether its at the halfway point of a marathon or not quite yet bed time and the kids are still bouncing off the walls… this is a time to roll on some Motivate, inhale from cupped hands, rub some on your adrenals and get. It. done.

  3. Supports Healthy Breathing- whenever your airways are in need of a little extra support you can apply Motivate to the palms of your hands, rub them together, and breathe in deeply.  Or apply to neck and chest.

  4. Ladies again- Motivate rolled on the abdomen, may help to ease monthly feminine discomfort when that time of the months comes calling a little too aggressively.

  5. Helps Relax the Musculoskeletal system- when your body isn’t feeling shipshape and maybe is more than a little creaky rub the Motivate Touch right onto the affected area.

So there you have it, 10 total ways to utilize doTERRA’s Cheer and Motivate Touch Rollers. These two oils are so key that I have approximately 3-4 different sets.  One for my kitchen, one for my purse, one for my bedside table, and one in my office on my desk. :) That may seem a little over the top, but are less than $20 each- in fact, the average American probable spends more in a week on their coffee habit than it would take to buy a set of these two oils so consider investing in yourself and personal daily routine by adding these two beauties to your oily collection.

Cheers!  (pun intended)
